Rebel Shiv Sena MLAs led by rebel leader Eknath Shinde on way to Goa from Guwahati

Celebrations started in the BJP camp this evening as Uddhav Thackeray stepped down from the Chief Minister's post. BJP leaders were seen distributing sweets, shouting slogans.

Uddhav Thackeray, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, wrote to rebel Shiv Sena MLAs today, urging them to talk to him in person, shortly after rebel Eknath Shinde said he will go to Mumbai and speak with the Maharashtra Governor.

Shiv Sena rebel leader Eknath Shinde met BJP's Devendra Fadnavis in Gujarat last night to discuss possible government formation in Maharashtra, sources have said. Team Thackeray, meanwhile, said it will "not forget the betrayal" done by the rebels.

The majority of Sena legislators have stood with Shinde since his rebellion against his own party earlier this week.
