Debbie Johnston will become the second mayor of Three Rivers, the eastern Prince Edward Island municipality that was amalgamated in 2018.

An eastern P.E.I. man who tried to organize volunteers for an outdoor rink in Cardigan last winter says the group decided it could not sign a waiver required by Three Rivers.

Federal, provincial and municipal governments have come together in eastern P.E.I. for a major expansion of the water and sewer system.

Now that Charlottetown has approved regulations for short-term rentals, some other communities in Prince Edward Island are looking at the issue as well, but no municipalities are expected to make any big rule changes soon. 

Three Rivers council gave conditional approval for the developments of two 12-unit apartment buildings and a 13-lot subdivision.

With provincial equalization payments to Three Rivers running out on March 31, 2022, Communities Minister Jamie Fox came up with an idea to ensure the town remains financially sustainable.

The budget set aside an initial $13.3 million over the next five years for the hospital's replacement.

The mayor of Three Rivers is pleased the Prince Edward Island government is moving forward with its plans to repair the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, which was built in 1842.
