Block Island has announced the closure of the bottom of the staircase at the Edward S. Payne overlook at Mohegan Bluffs on Block Island.

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) and the Town of New Shoreham announced the staircase at the Mohegan Bluffs is closed. The cause is erosion.

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management withheld a recommendation on turning part of a recreational field in Pawtucket to a parking lot.

Conversion was part of a redevelopment plan to pave over the field.
