The City of Salem's Emergency Manager will be retiring next week. Terry Mulvaney has been in the position of Emergency Management Director for Salem for 43 years to the day. Current Assistant Director Andrew Strong will be sworn in as the new City of Salem Department of Emergency Management Director The city on Tuesday of next week (May 23rd) will be hosting a reception for Mulvaney at the Salem Department of Emergency Management office, located at 201 S. Rotan Street in Salem. Officials ask that you please park on side streets as the parking lot needs to be accessible for Police vehicles and those needing to get to the Police Dept. The swearing-in of Andrew Strong, the new Emergency Manager will also take place that evening.
Burlington, IA- Authorities had to briefly close Roosevelt Avenue and divert traffic due to a two-vehicle crash on Thursday. The Burlington beacon reports that 67-year-old Song Yuk Richardson of Sperry was traveling south on US 61 and was waiting in the left turn lane on Roosevelt avenue to turn onto East Division Street. Richardson had the yellow blinking light when she was hit by a semi-truck, driven by 59-year-old Terry Mulvaney of Lasalle, Illinois. Mulvaney said that he had the green light, and saw Richardson turning, but had not time to brake. No one was injured in the accident, and Richardson was issued a citation for failure to yield.
