Eight students will compete in the State 6A Tournament on Friday. Among those going to state are seniors Reid Starzl and Joshua Kalina, and their younger sisters Tessa Starzl and Faith Kalina.
The Perham speech team finished with 114 points on its way to the title. Parkers Prairie finished with 65 points for second place, while Underwood was third with 44 points.
The Perham team earned first place but due to a long-standing speech tradition, the hosting team does not take their trophies. Instead, the attending schools receive trophies and recognition. Pequot Lakes took the championship trophy home.
