Perham Speech News Today

Eight students will compete in the State 6A Tournament on Friday. Among those going to state are seniors Reid Starzl and Joshua Kalina, and their younger sisters Tessa Starzl and Faith Kalina.

At the Minnesota State High School League Speech Meet on April 22-23, the Yellowjackets had 10 competitors, with four of them advancing to the finals.

Ten Perham speakers qualified to compete at the Class A Speech Tournament, hosted by Eastview High School in Eagan on Monday, April 23.

The Perham team earned first place but due to a long-standing speech tradition, the hosting team does not take their trophies. Instead, the attending schools receive trophies and recognition. Pequot Lakes took the championship trophy home.

Perham Speech will be hosting an invitational on March 12. The community is invited to watch, beginning at 9 a.m. at the high school.

Sophomore Jaxon Bain, senior Brynn Greisen and senior Beau Johnson advanced to the final round and placed in the top eight at their first speech meet of the season on Jan. 16.
