The Avalanches had their audience prepared to wait another decade for their next album. The Australian group’s Robbie Chater and Tony Di Blasi surprised everyone with the relatively quick arrival of their third album, We Will Always Love You, only four years after its predecessor, Wildflower, which took four times as long to be released after the group’s critically and commercially acclaimed debut album, Since I Left You in 2000.

Rescuers evacuated tourists on Tuesday from a remote skiing area in northwestern China where dozens of avalanches triggered by heavy snow have trapped more than 1,000 people for a week, state media said. The avalanches have blocked roads, stranding both tourists and residents in a village in Altay prefecture in the Xinjiang region, close to China's border with Mongolia, Russia and Kazakhstan.

Anna Gutu and Mingmar Sherpa were confirmed dead after avalanches struck the slopes of a Tibetan mountain, while two others remained missing.

The city’s neighborhoods, from the Mission to Russian Hill and the Outer Sunset, are vibrant with packed restaurants and bars, and many are home to new parks and the return of in-person events.

Melbourne’s The Avalanches were on the other side on the world on Saturday night performing at Glastonbury.

The Avalanches have postponed their upcoming US tour.
