After years of speculation, Disney finally confirms the biggest celebration in WDW history

Now the resort has finally confirmed the upcoming celebration. As was expected, the 18-month event will begin in October on the actual anniversary of Magic Kingdom’s 1971 opening. Before the pandemic, it was thought the event would kick off in May and run until late 2022. But with capacity decreases and travel restrictions for many guests, the October date is indicative of when the travel industry as a whole expects things to begin heading back to some semblance of normal. From Instagram-worthy photo-ops to sci-fi technology, the 10,000-square-foot store is as much a celebration of the M&M s brand as it is a place to buy some candy-coated chocolate drops. M&M s has had a presence in Central Florida for years, with a previous store at the Florida Mall. Like other recent M&M s stores, the Disney Springs one is a bit smaller but remains focused on the experiential aspects that the last store was known for.

This leaves behind a trail littered with thousands of unique concepts, including some that are extremely detailed and nearly shovel-ready. Now a website, Best Kid Stuff, has imagined what five of those never-realized attractions would look like in real life. The realistic-looking 3D renderings are our best look yet at these long-shelved attractions. The group gathered public documents and information from the designers involved with the attractions, then synthesized this information into a single hyper-real image of what each attraction may have looked like.
