Election season is in full swing as the November 8 mid-term election rapidly approaches.

Democrats hold strong leads in the races for Illinois secretary of state, attorney general, comptroller and treasurer, according to the poll. “Absolutely, I do think it’s a coattail effect with Gov. Pritzker,” one voter said.

In the races for secretary of state, attorney general, comptroller and treasurer, the poll found voters heavily favoring Democrats.

There were 780,602 votes cast in the various primaries across DuPage County, according to preliminary results.

Voters will have the chance to cast their ballots in races for governor, congressional seats, state legislative offices and local positions.

About two-thirds of likely Republican voters said they’re not sure who they’ll vote for in the U.S. Senate, attorney general and secretary of state races. Candidates backed by billionaire Ken Griffin were trailing, and the endorsement of former national security adviser Michael Flynn did little to help a U.S, Senate candidate.

But does ballot position matter? Some experts say no. “It’s tradition. It’s part of the summer camp aspect of campaigning,” said political science professor Christopher Mooney. “But does it have an impact on average? No, it doesn’t. But again, in an individual case, who’s to say?”
