Milnrow is part of the borough of Rochdale and lies on the River Beal. After 1066 the settlement was owned by Norman families and started to expand as the woollen trade began to grow. The 18th century Lancashire dialect poet John Collier, known as Tim Bobbin, is from Milnrow. Newhey is a village near Milnrow and became part of the Milnrow Urban District in 1894. It is famous for its Ellenroad ring mill, now a steam museum.

According to research from Santander, Brits have been incredibly busy in the last year.
