For Penn State student April Komal, her journey to becoming Penn State Homecoming’s 2023 executive director began with a simple Facebook post calling for Homecoming competition captains.

This year's theme was "Dancing Through The Decades," and each Greek Life group was assigned a decade from the 1920s all the way to today's hits.

"One huge goal of mine is to prioritize our diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts in Homecoming."

"I cannot wait to bring Homecoming’s mission to life next year and amplify the pride of the Penn State family.”

Penn State Homecoming announced April Komal will serve as the executive director in 2023, according to a Friday press release.

Penn State students voted for the winners of the Guide State Forward award, which replaced the crowning of Homecoming king and queen in 2018.

Homecoming's festivities will begin on Sunday, October 16, and culminate with the Nittany Lions’ clash against Minnesota at Beaver Stadium on Saturday, October 22.

The PSDA took home a $3,000 THON donation and an on-stage performance at THON 2022.

Homecoming's captain applications close at 5 p.m. on Friday, January 21.
