Tornado hits Salem causing property damage but no injuries
The storm that spawned a tornado in Salem was part of a larger system that struck across the region Sunday evening, knocking out power to more than 100,000 Appalachian Power customers in Virginia, West Virginia and Tennessee. Power restoration efforts continued on the Memorial Day holiday.
