A group of volunteers spent Saturday buying gifts at a local Walmart to help brighten Christmas for children who might otherwise not receive a gift.

Co-founder of SOLAS in Council Bluffs, Mary Jones had a passion for animals. She died Saturday at age 76.

“Here is the future of the airport,” said Council Bluffs Municipal Airport spokesperson Andy Biller, pointing to a large mound of dirt.
