Do take note that the $1.9 trillion stimulus bill enabled the expansion of child tax credits that generally allowed families to claim a credit of up to $2,000 for children under the age of seventeen. But they now qualify to collect as much as $3,600 per year for a child under the age of six and up to $3,000 for children between ages six and seventeen.

New headlines are teasing a fourth stimulus check heading to your address. However, make no mistake: the President's Administration and Congress have not approved a fourth round of stimulus check payment.

“A one-time payment of $2,000 is simply not enough,” Rep. Ilhan Omar said in a statement. “The American people are counting on us to deliver transformative change, and we need to meet the moment by delivering monthly payments of $2,000.”

Now, the IRS has sent out 167 million payments, at a total dollar value of  $391 billion, through May 26. Politifact reported recently that the total amount allocated in the Rescue Plan for the stimulus checks was $410 billion, meaning there’s not much money left to go out.

The IRS described the 1.24 million figure as “the number of people who either refused to accept, paid back or not cashed the stimulus checks they received from the IRS as a result of the CARES Act that was signed into law on March 27, 2020.”

The IRS reported last week that it will continue processing tax returns and examining taxes paid on the unemployment bonuses, as all refunds will vary depending on the taxpayer, with some not qualifying for any refund.
