Community Content MCC to kick off spring 2021 virtual ‘World of Music’ concert series After a successful fall semester run, Middlesex Community College’s spring 2021 “A World of Music” will continue virtually throughout the semester.  Performances will be recorded live and then streamed online for audiences to watch for free. The concert series will kick off with a performance celebrating Black composers in honor of Black History Month. We are looking forward to presenting this concert featuring a great variety of music by Black composers from around the world,” said Carmen Rodriguez-Peralta, MCC’s chair of the music department. “This music deserves to be heard much more often than it is!

DishUP concert to benefit Arlington EATS, musician relief fund Community Content The following press release was submitted by Vicki Ford: On Jan. 8 at 7:30 p.m., St. John’s Coffeehouse will “dish up” a great lineup to benefit Arlington EATS (formerly the Arlington Food Pantry) and local musicians affected by pandemic cancellations. The program features the eclectic musical alchemy of multi-instrumentalist and composers Akili Jamal Haynes and Val Jeanty in a special program they’ve designed just for this fundraiser. Both musicians are affiliated with the Berklee School of Music and many other innovative musical projects. Opening the show will be Arlington s poet laureate, Steven Ratiner (“Red Letter Poems”), accompanied by St. John s own composer, clarinet and saxophone player, Todd Brunel.
