Tom Sancrant, Erie VFW commander, spoke at a Memorial Day service at Roselawn Memorial Park. Also included were a poem, song and floral tributes.

Memorial Day parades will be held Monday in Monroe, Flat Rock, Dundee and Carleton. A Mass will be offered at St. Joseph Cemetery.

During the service, a silent salute was held and the names of 13 life members of the post who died in recent years were remembered.

The Erie Post 3925, Veterans of Foreign Wars, has held a muskrat and turtle soup dinner every year since the 1970s.
