As building companies such as Oracle continue to collapse, some people losing their dream of a new home are blaming over-committed builders chasing government stimulus money.

Queensland father-of-three Dale Liston returned from hospital to find piles of rubbish left by deserting contractors in the wake of the collapse of the Oracle Building Corporation this week.

Queensland man Dale Liston only found out that Oracle Homes, who were building his house, had collapsed while browsing Facebook. Mr Liston said the builder had told him everything was fine.

Logan City-based Oracle jumped from 76 home building contracts to 316, setting the builder up for a world of pain when costs started soaring.

Oracle Homes customers have been left devastated looking at unfinished houses as the builder collapsed but the firms boss Tom Orel still has a $5million mansion to go home to - for now.
