Tortoise Adoption News Today

In February, AZGFD kicked off its Tortoise Adoption campaign to find homes for nearly 300 wild desert tortoises, a record number of orphaned tortoises this year.

The Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) has about 300 Sonoran desert tortoises of all ages and sizes up for adoption.

The desert tortoise can live to more than 80 years and like most tortoises, takes a long term commitment. They remain wards of the state.
