Power outage, severe weather | Here's what to do before, during, after a power outage; check power outages in your area

FEMA is encouraging all Hurricane Nicole victims to check to see if they are eligible for assistance before it's too late.

The one-day Disaster Assistance Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Alonzo "Babe" James Community Center.

The community along the St. Johns River has experienced repeated flooding problems, especially following hurricanes Ian and Nicole.

The storm has caused at least three deaths, damaged homes, and could bring up to 8 inches of rain to some areas.

As Nicole weakened and lifted north Thursday, the system pushed much needed rain across southeast Georgia and the Lowcountry.

Hurricane Nicole made landfall just south of Vero Beach at 3 a.m. Thursday with wind speeds of 75 mph.

The Sunshine Skyway Bridge closed on Thursday morning due to conditions caused by Tropical Storm Nicole.

Tornadoes are possible this evening through tomorrow morning. The weekend will be drier, cooler, and quiet.
