Back to our breaking news in Camden County 12 30, a raging tanker fire sent smoke high over pennsauken in south jersey after a tanker truck overturned. Chopper 6 was over the scene. This is video from the height of the inferno. The tanker was carrying a full load of fuel before it controversy turned. This is on the other side of the ben franklin bridge the exit ramp route 90 to 130. Minutes ago firefighters put chemicals on the flames as we saw live from chopper 6. The flames are diminished, but chopper 6 has seen several small flareups as we continue to watch. As you can see they have gotten the situation under control, they dosed it with foam. Now they are putting water on the flames on the side of the road. This is an inferno that burned for about an hour before firefighters extinguished the flames. There is a neighborhood nearby people were being told to come out of their homes. People did leavement neighborhood. This was a leave the neighborhood, this is a haz mat situation. Route
Like five or six explosions. Reporter Authorities Say the driver who was traveling alone was able to get out of the vehicle. No other cars or trucks were involved. Firefighters started dousing the tanker with foam around noon and it appeared to be out but then reignited. Some neighbors stayed in their homes even as black dark thick smoke moved their way. Then officials told them to come out. Everyone needs to get out here. They probably saw me in the window looking over there and they were like Everyone Needs to get out so were digit by 12 30 the flames were under control but the pavement were badly burned even melted away. For people who live nearby this was all too close for comfort. Very close, very close sir. Reporter and as we look back live firefighters are up there but at the moment they dont seem to be doing new jersey terms of removing away whats left. It was a boom after boom after boom. One after the other. Had to have been like six to eight booms. Reporter it was just after 11 00 this morning when a tanker truck lost control onramp from route 90 to route 130 near the betsy ross bridge dumping nearly 8,000 gallons of gasoline. The fire ball was massive spewing thick black smoke even scene coming out of nearby storm drains. Driver was able to escape. No word at this point on what caused the crash but the ramp is just feet from homes and neighbors say accidents happen here all the time. Watching tv and nervous you hear bang you look out the thing and theres car stopped right before this two days ago one did it. Theres always accidents back there but never a ball of fire like that.
