Highly trained professionals are among the new additions to the Skills Priority List, which still shows major shortages.

An extra 39 occupations were added to the federal governments Australian Apprenticeships Priority List - giving a $5,000 cash boost to apprentice and trainee pay packets.

The employees included under the contract are primarily bus drivers, bus attendants, bus mechanics, building cleaners, building engineers and trades workers.
