1 . Twitter is an awful place. It’s not nearly as bad as Facebook, which is a top-five worst things on Earth, but Twitter is still awful. However, every now and then, you log on to Twitter and it makes you happy for a moment. This was the case after the Patriots hauled in several free agents Monday, agreeing to deals totaling $232 million, and then again Tuesday morning when they signed tight end Hunter Henry. There’s just something about Bill Belichick that brings out the best in Twitter....

A conversation about current NBA defenses became cringeworthy TV.

Inside the NBA later this week with a four-part documentary series, The Inside Story, that covers the evolution of the iconic studio show from its inception to now. Full disclosure: I appear in the documentary as one of the many talking heads who explain why the show works so well. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize the chemistry between Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Shaquille O’Neal is special. And that chemistry is on full display in this exclusive clip in wh...

There was a lot going on during Jason Sudeikiss acceptance speech for Best Actor.

1 . Every NBA fan knows former Timberwolves star Kevin Garnett was a legendary trash-talker. However, there was a time when that trash talk came back to burn him. Appearing on Wednesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! Garnett revealed that when he was 19 years old, his teammate J.R. Rider got off to a hot start during a game against the Bulls and that got Garnett chirping at Michael Jordan. Garnett says he’s paid for it ever since. “I was playing great, probably the best I ever played in my life...

Feb 23, 2021 1. J.J. Watt’s tweets during his free agency have led to some great content. Fans are hanging on Watt’s every tweet, looking for any sign he may be leaning toward joining a certain team. Five days after parting ways with the Texans, Watt shared his very concise thoughts on being in demand. Last week, NFL fans went wild with conspiracy theories after J.J. shared video of his brother, T.J., shoveling snow. And over the weekend, Watt amusingly explained why his free-agency decisi...

Feb 15, 2021 1. Just when you thought there would never be something that could unify this country, along comes Lorraine Grohs. If you were on the internet at all over the weekend, you’d know that Grohs is the person demanding an apology from Tom Brady for throwing the Lombardi Trophy from one boat to another during the Buccaneers Super Bowl celebration last week. Grohs was offended by the “disgraced” and “disrespectful” treatment of the piece of metal because her father, Greg, is th...

1 . After hearing the news that new Jaguars coach Urban Meyer hired Chris Doyle, the former strength coach at Iowa who was accused of making racist remarks at, belittling and bullying players, I was curious to see if media members would call out Meyer for the disgraceful move. Remember, former Iowa offensive lineman Jack Kallenberger revealed that he retired from football after being bullied by his coaches about having a learning disability. Doyle was among the coaches Kallenberger cited for t...

1. Thank you, Mark Cuban. Over the years, I’ve written a handful of columns (last June and in 2018, for example) advocating for sports to stop playing the national anthem before games. There’s no reason other than “tradition” to play the anthem at sporting events. None. Zilch. Zippo. The playing of the anthem is now a culture war talking point more than anything. And Cuban proved this by never announcing his decision that the Mavericks would no longer play the anthem before games. He n...

Unwatchable game between Buccaneers, Chiefs leads to Super Bowl viewership drop.
