do you think that will happen? i think the first three things that we will do once we re sworn in on january 3rd is bring down the cost of healthcare. including the price of prescription drugs. number two will be rebuilding our country with a trillion dollar transportation package, infrastructure package, rural broad band, high speed internet. number three we will address the nastiness, the corruption that has been going on in washington, d.c. i m inside the capitol building. this beautiful structure. but you go outside and there is massive self-dealing going on. the money in politics is out of control and we need to address that. those will be our first three priorities. dana: so addressing gun control would not be one of those? you re talking to the wife of a sheriff. my huh band was just re-elected
i work collaboratively and via consensus. i work with republicans and democrats, rural oregonians, urban oregonians to tackle problems facing oregon. we were able to bring everyone together to invest in the most comprehensive transportation package in oregon history. we invested for the first time ever in a statewide public transit system. i am so pleased with the work we re doing. and we in oregon do things differently. under my leadership, we ll continue to work together to meet oregonians needs. do you feel many of the republicans and independents in your state will in many ways reject this being cast upon this kind of name calling the president has done to democrats, including whether they would be progressive or centrist, they re all mobs, do you think that will be rejected based on the kind of work and based upon the kind of
moderates in election time, but when they go to washington, they always vote for the radical pelosi agenda down the line. bret: give me the things that you can agree to work on with president trump should you get the majority, because it will be splitting it, obviously. health care cost, prescription drug costs, a real trillion dollar transportation package. those were all promises he made when he was candidate trumps traveling all across the country. are we willing to work with him? absolutely. bret: s republican site if you to control this is going to be about hearing after hearing, and impeachment process, what you said your colleagues who say there should be impeachment? i don t have a whole lot of people who ask me about it. there s an investigation going on, i say we let that play out and see what comes of that and then we can make some decisions accordingly appear to to listen to president trump , immigration will be a big issue again in 2018 and 2020. they don t want
understand i understand you, but why do you think they picked trump? is it the core that trump was talking manufacturing jobs and clinton wasn t? i think it was a frustration with washington. they want to make sure that they saw results. they saw that in me. there was probably question if that was going to happen if they didn t vote in someone who was very different than they re used to. donald trump has thrown out a lot of promises. i will work with him and i will work with his administration where i can. i m on the transportation committee. i like the idea that he s talking about a trillion-dollar transportation package, but i don t like the thought of the people he s brought in on health skpl is human sfrsz. or somebody who doesn t even
well, you know, governor mcdonald, to his credit, has done some good things for the commonwealth of virginia, restoring rights to nonviolent criminals. i think that s a big step in the right direction. you know, then when we talk about the importance of business to virginia, he put a transportation package on the table this past year. it s not a perfect package, but it was a bipartisan do you agree with ed rendell? well, what i just wanted to finish my thought, with that bipartisan transportation plan, we have put about $1.3 billion of new revenue in the transportation that we didn t have since 1986. so the governor has done some good things. obviously what has happened over the past few months is unfortunate. it s a reason that we need ethics reform desperately in the commonwealth of virginia. you know, i introduced legislation two years ago that would put more teeth in our ethics program. it was defeated in the house. we had it passed in the senate.
