A small dense forest was recently planted at the IDA Business & Technology Park in Athlone as part of an environmental initiative undertaken by IDA Ireland and the 100 Million Trees Project.

?This is the time of year for making New Year resolutions and resolutions don’t come much bigger that the resolve of brothers Richard and David Mulcahy to achieve the planting of 100 million native trees and shrubs this decade throughout the island of Ireland. And that’s not a typo; they plan to plant one hundred million trees before the decade ends.

A project set up by the grandsons of famous Wexford women Min Ryan has moved a small step closer to completion thanks to the communities of The Rocks and Rosslare Harbour. The 100 Million Trees Project was established by Richard and David Mulcahy last year and aims to, as the title suggests, plant 100 million trees in Ireland over the next decade.

Limerick Racecourse has signed up to the 100 Million Trees Project and planted a 2,500-strong native ‘mini forest’ at the Patrickswell venue as part of their mission to become the most sustainable racecourse in Ireland.
