Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks has stocked the Marmaton River in southeastern Kansas with 7,175 mussels in an attempt to prevent the species from becoming threatened or endangered.

Thousands of mussels were poured into Kansas rivers as part of the state’s effort to keep aquatic species alive and flourishing.
