R-Y Timber Inc. is shutting down its sawmill in Livingston about a week after a structure fire broke out at the site, the company’s general manager confirmed on Tuesday.

R-Y Timber is closing its doors after decades of operating in Livingston. Their planner building was destroyed by fire in September and last week, the inside of their sawmill was also destroyed.

On Tuesday night, a fire broke out at R-Y Timber in Livingston just after midnight and local firefighters were able to get the blaze out, according to fire officials.

Multiple agencies responded to the fire at 12:30 AM, which took about six hours to contain. Zach Proffit, with Park County Rural Fire, said their crew worked for about 12 hours.

It’s been four months since R-Y Timber in Livingston went up in flames, destroying a planner building and leaving one employee with severe burns.

A fire at a sawmill in Livingston has been ruled an accidental by the state’s justice department.
