Philadelphia will begin a new chapter in 2024.

Mayor-elect Cherelle Parker named Adam Thiel as her managing director during a press conference Tuesday, stating he will begin his new role next week.

Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Adam Thiel, who has 30 years of experience in emergency management in several states, was named Tuesday as the city’s managing director by Mayor-elect Cherelle Parker.

Mayor-elect Cherelle Parker has tapped former Philadelphia Fire Department Commissioner Adam Thiel to be her managing director when she takes office after her inauguration on Jan. 2. Thiel has served as fire commissioner since 2016 and also was director of the city's Office of Emergency Management between 2019-2022.
