A surge in homelessness is pushing the system to breaking point. Exposing an ugly social divide in the aloha estate. I think we are one of the stronger communities as far as getting together and saying we dont want the homeless in our neighbourhood and we need to be strong and vocal and try to do whatever we can to keep them out. Thanks to some generous donations, many of a near 250 people living in an outdoor encampment by the harbor in Waianae, will soon have a permanent place to call home.

A mission to house 250 people in Waianae that has been years in the making could soon become a reality. Leaders of Puuhonua o Waianae announced Wednesday at the Council

For over a century, the destiny of this island paradise has been in the hands of outsiders. Now locals are fighting to reclaim it.

WAIANAE (KITV4) -- A group of near 200 inhabitants at the Puuhonua o Waiana by the harbor has the opportunity to do something no other houseless encampment has done.
