The Community Foundation of St. Clair County recently announced a $105,000 grant to support the programs and operations of SONS Outreach in its new home at the former Harrison School in Port Huron.
A $500,000 MEDC grant kicked off the $750,000 effort. Funds will be invested to ensure the old Harrison school's future maintenance as the organization's resource center.
SONS Outreach and the city of Algonac are also receiving funds through the same MEDC grant program. Meanwhile, two other Port Huron projects are missing out.
The purchase support comes from the city s American Rescue Plan funds. Officials hope to finalize agreement to take nearby playground and greenspace later this month.
