A Delhi court today discharged former JNU students' union leader Umar Khalid in a case linked to 2020 Delhi riots.

In a major setback to Delhi Police, Karkardooma Court has acquitted 2020 Delhi riots accused Umar Khalid and Khalid Saifi from the counts of arson, vandalism, and stone pelting on Saturday.

"The battle has been quite tough but we are positive about getting justice", said father of JNU student Umar Khalid who was discharged in a case related to the 2020 northeast Delhi riots.

After two years of closure, the Delhi Police handed over the keys of the Nizamuddin Markaz to its owners. This was one of the events which put India at the top of COVID-related hostilities against certain religious groups.

Delhi's Karkarduma Court on Saturday discharged Umar Khalid, Khalid Saifi in a Delhi Riots case arising out of the FIR registered at PS Khajuri Khas.

Umar Khalid has been in jail since September 2020 accused for conspiring against the riots in February 2020

Umar Khalid and Khalid Saifi were acquitted in a case involving stone pelting in a protest held in February 2020 at Delhi's Chand Bagh.

New Delhi: Delhi’s Karkardooma court on Saturday discharged former Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students' union leader Umar Khalid and United Against Hate member Khalid Saifiin in a case connected to 2020 Delhi riots case.  Additional Sessions Judge Pulastya Pramachala pronounced the order in the case related to stone-throwing and arson in Chandbagh area of national
