Bauchi State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Rifkatu Yakubu, on Tuesday commissioned a block of two classrooms constructed by a serving corps member in the state.

A serving corps member, Rahila Garba, has constructed a block of two classrooms for pupils of Gudum Hausawa Primary School in the Gudum community, a suburb of the Bauchi metropolis.

The remaining classes were left abandoned, but nature intervenes as there are some trees whose shade serves as temporary classrooms.

Several communities in Bauchi State such as Wunti Dada, Gudum Hausawa, Gudum Sayawa, Rafin Makaranta, Turum, and Inkil are presently without potable water, despite being supposed beneficiaries of the N20 billion water project sponsored by the World Bank. The water project was aimed at improving water supply in the Bauchi metropolis and a few adjoining villages — but the story remains the same for many communities in the state capital, the seat of government.
