The Miami-Dade County Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) is slated to launch a Historic Context Study focused on the people and places associated with Migrant Farmworker Communities in Miami-Dade. This project is being funded by an Underrepresented Communities Grant (URC) from the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF) administered by the National Park

The project is part of the National Park Service's mission to diversify the entries on the National Register of Historic Places.

A Virginia Beach African-American community that predates the Civil War is among the latest historic sites to be added to the Virginia Landmarks Register.

The Virginia Beach community has a robust history dating back to the end of the Civil War and some current residents say this designation would be a welcome one.
