Downtown Memphis development: The Walk submits plans for building

From staff reports This story has been updated to reflect approval of the plans submitted to the Design Review Board.  The Downtown Memphis Commission s Design Review Board gave approval for design plans for one of the primary buildings at The Walk, formerly Union Row, in Downtown Memphis. The board approved the plans at a virtual meeting Wednesday after a brief discussion. The application is only for the exterior design of the one building, but it provides details about what the building will eventually house. Plans were done by LRK Architects. According to the application and staff report: This building  referred to as Building G  will be located on a block bounded by Union on the north, Danny Thomas on the east, Gayoso on the south, and a new street to the west (referred to as Fifth Street).

Formal consultation on taxi rank changes in Aberdeen approved © Scott Baxter / DCT Media A formal consultation will now begin for the removal of two taxi ranks, including Back Wynd, and the introduction of five others. A consultation will be held into plans to change the site of taxi ranks in Aberdeen city centre. Messures put in place to improve safety for pedestrians through the Spaces for People initiative currently restrict vehicle access to some ranks. This would lead to the current Hadden Street and Back Wynd ranks being temporarily removed. New ranks would be set up on Exchange Street, Rosemount Viaduct, Exchequer Row, Union Row and Justice Mill Lane.

No evidence offered against brothers accused of double stabbing

PROSECUTORS have dropped charges against two brothers accused of a double stabbing in Old Town.  Montel and Nathan Burke pleaded not guilty in February last year to two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. The Nottinghamshire brothers were said to have stabbed attacked two men in a house on Victoria Road, Old Town, on July 8, 2019. One man, 30s, suffered stab wounds to his head and body and another in his 20s stabbed in the shoulder.
