Have we taken our eyes off the prize? This is the question fueling the theme for this year’s annual MLK Day observance. The University of Kentucky, along with the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government and other community sponsors, will kick off this year’s MLK Day celebration at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15 with the annual holiday Freedom March, beginning at Central Bank Center in downtown Lexington. Directly following the march, the Commemorative Program will be held at 2 p.m. at Central Bank Center.

Black History Month is a time to honor the contributions and legacy of Black Americans across U.S. history and society from activists and civil rights pioneers to leaders in industry, politics, science and culture. At the University of Kentucky, that sentiment holds true.
While Latinx/Hispanic Heritage month has come to a close, the campus community can get ready for a campus favorite and signature program that continues to honor the life of those who came before us and the lives of those who are no longer with us the Day of the Dead or Dia de los Muertos.
