UK: Petrofac secures enhanced North Sea contract with INEOS FPS 28 Jan 2021 INEOS FPS following the award of an enhanced five-year contract. Under the terms of the agreement, Petrofac will continue to supply personnel to the Unity Platform in the Central North Sea, the onshore Cruden Bay Terminal and other landline sites. The contract has also been reconfigured to include engineering and construction support. This award strengthens Petrofac’s existing relationship with INEOS FPS in the UKCS, where it already provides a Maintenance Consultancy service. Offshore personnel will continue to be deployed via Petrofac’s dedicated 24/7 Delivery Hub, through which all of its Operations and Maintenance contracts are managed. The Hub offers flexibility of shared resources across contracts, enabling fluctuating client requirements to be managed in a flexible, cost-effective way.

Incumbent Yoweri Museveni got 58 per cent, which in numbers is 5.8 million votes, down from the 5.9 million the President got in 2016. This is despite the fact that the number of voters increased by about  three million.

Internet shutdown stalls digital campaigning, electoral observers say

Daily Monitor Saturday January 23 2021 Advertisement The recent shutdown of Internet by the government for five days during the presidential and parliament election greatly affected the voter digital campaigns and mobilization, the Citizens Coalition for Electoral Democracy in Uganda (CCEDU) has said. Ms Charity Ahimbisibwe, the executive director of CCEDU, said most youth who are more than 65 per cent of Uganda’s population engage mostly on social media using different social media platforms, including Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter and Instagram. “It is unfortunate that most youth who mainly use the internet for communication, and scores of others were greatly affected by the shutdown of the internet,” she said.
