So, what would buildings be like if they were built based on a circular economy model? Well to start, they would be built with the intention of utilising the surrounding land in the most optimal way possible. And the buildings themselves, for example, could be modular, mixed-use buildings made from recycled and sustainable materials. These buildings would also be designed with ESD principles in mind, and would include plenty of shared and multi-purpose spaces.

The UNSW SMaRT Centre has had published three scientific papers that show that waste coffee grounds and hydrogen from other wastes can be used as part of its patented Green Steel technology.

Commissioned by the Australian Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (DAWE), the report will directly inform the investment in new infrastructure and coordinated services under the Australian Government’s Ghost Nets Initiative, which will be implemented until June 2024.
