For The Inter-Mountain
BUCKHANNON The same day that a new Upshur County magistrate was appointed, Upshur County’s Division 2 magistrate submitted her resignation.
Kay Hurst, who was re-elected to a second term in the June primary and served nearly three weeks of that term, submitted her resignation to Judge Jake Reger effective at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
When The Inter-Mountain had checked with Reger at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, the circuit judge had not received a resignation letter and could not confirm the resignation.
“I don’t have any other comment about it,” Reger said Thursday morning. “If you want to talk to Mrs. Hurst, you can. She resigned and we are going to have to replace her.”
