The unfortunate reversal of a long-standing trend

U.S. worker productivity experienced its fastest growth in three years during the third quarter, leading to a decline in labor costs. Nonfarm productivity, which measures hourly output per worker, increased at an annualized rate of 4.7% in the last quarter, the quickest since Q3 2020, as reported by the Labor Department.
