Groundworks for the rocket launch site at Shetland's planned SaxaVord spaceport have uncovered potential Bronze Age remains.

Archaeologists are now hard at work at the site of what could soon be Europes first spaceport capable of hosting vertical rocket launches. Its on the Lamba Ness peninsula in Unst, the northernmost Shetland isle.

Burial tombs dating back 4,000 years to the Bronze Age have been discovered at the Shetland Spaceport site.

Features including pits and burnt bone have been uncovered at Shetland's planned SaxaVord site.

The archaeological findings include pits, large boulders, and burnt bones, all pointing toward the existence of a ritual cremation cemetery.
