A Bench headed by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana expressed its frustration at advocates appearing for virtual hearings through their mobile phones.

Amidst soaring COVID-19 cases, the Kerala High Court has decided to revert to complete virtual hearings for all cases from January 17, Monday.

Listing non-urgent matters increases pressure on court staff and goes against the purpose of limiting court working hours, the notice issued by Bench led by Justice Gautam Patel said.

The Delhi High Court has passed an office order extending virtual hearing in the High Court as well as District Courts in Delhi till February 11, 2022.

In view of the rise in COVID-19 cases, the Orissa High Court has decided to hear cases through video conference from January 10, 2022 to February 4, 2022.

According to a circular issued by the apex court administration, with effect from January 7, the benches will sit at the residential offices.

Both the Benches of the High Court were employing a hybrid system of hearing cases in which lawyers have the option to appear either via video conference or physically.

According to the SOP, all cases before the principal bench at Bengaluru will be heard only by VC mode till January 14.

The notification to this effect was issued by the Registrar General stating that the Court shall take up the matters as per the existing arrangement with regard to listing of cases through virtual mode only.
