The incident took place before the Bench of Justice GK Ilanthiraiyan after which a Division Bench of the senior judges of the Court initiated contempt proceedings.

The Court observed that employing hybrid method of hearing cases, which gives lawyers the option to appear through virtual medium or physically, has led to lawyers preferring to appear from the confines of their homes.

A notification issued on August 16 said that High Court will resume normal judicial work through physical mode with effect from August 24.

The court will assemble on July 5 after the administrative committee considers the situation on July 1.
