Thousands of farmers, mostly from Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh, have been camping at the Delhi border points - Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur - since November 2020, demanding the repeal of the three farm laws and a legal guarantee on the minimum support price (MSP) for their crops.

The Maharashtra government will amend its agriculture law to protect farmers and APMCs as the three Central farm laws are not in the interest of agriculturists, state Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat said on Wednesday. He said the draft law will be introduced in the monsoon session of the Maharashtra legislature beginning July 5.

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government will amend its agriculture law to protect farmers and APMCs as the three Central farm laws are not in the interest of agriculturists, state Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat said on Wednesday.
He said the draft law will be introduced in the monsoon session of the Maharashtra legislature beginning July 5. We want to amend the state agriculture law as we feel that the Union government s agriculture laws are not in the interest of farmers.

Mangaluru, May 26: Officials of Mangaluru city corporation (MCC) on Wednesday completed the demolition of the old central market here for the construction of a new building under the Smart City project.
The structure was demolished using excavators with police assistance.
Police have set up barricades in and around the old market for the work.
The MCC council had earlier passed a resolution to clear the old central market building and a proposal under the Smart City project was sent to the state government which was stayed by court, MCC commissioner Akshay Sridhar told reporters here.

He had died from post COVID-19 complications
The last rites of Congress MP Rajeev Satav, who died from post COVID-19 complications, were performed with full State honours at his native village of Kalamnuri at Hingoli district in Maharashtra on Monday.
Mr. Satav, a member of the All-India Congress Committee (AICC) and was considered to be close to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, had died after being on ventilator support at the Jehangir Hospital in Pune for more than three weeks. He was 46.
