Another in-house lawyer has returned to law firm practice in Bengaluru this week, with J. Sagar Associates welcoming back Rakesh Warrier as a partner from manufacturing services provider Zetwerk, where he was associate director for compliance.

A boom in legal business amid a rise in M&A deals, a vibrant IPO market, rising litigations, constantly evolving uniform producer levy structures, and focus on corporate governance and ethical standards have prompted firms to promote younger professionals to the role of partners, said experts.

Commercial Law Advisors (CLA) is merging with JSA, which will strengthen JSAs presence in the Chennai market and across South India, including Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The merger will bring four partners and 17 associates to JSA, making it one of the largest law firms in the Chennai market and southern region.

With these new elevations, the total number of equity partners at JSA will be 49.

Indian law firm JSA has named partners Rupinder Malik and Varghese Thomas to its newly reconstituted executive committee and announced that joint managing partners Amit Kapur and Vivek Chandy will continue in their roles for three more years.

Amit Kapur and Vivek Chandy will both serve another stint as Joint Managing Partners of JSA, after their first term came to an end on March 31, 2022.

Those elected to the partnership are Abhishek Munot, Anand Lakra, Ashish Suman, Divyam Agarwal, Malini Raju, and Soumitra Majumdar
