And since then we have been using a general clause in the California Retail food code and the Health Code Department with olrc, the workers and the communitybased organizations in recouping wages for workers. For example, this is how it usually goes. When either olrc or the [speaker not understood] department of labor standard enforcement requires [speaker not understood] pay back wage, the owner is still recalcitrant in complying, olrc will file a complaint with the Health Department and the Health Department would hold a hearing with the director of Public Health to consider permit suspension or revocation. Although this does not prevent wage theft, this model of keeping the owners accountable for complying with applicable Business Laws has been really helpful to olrcs efforts. Final report from the Wage Theft Task force. As you know, the task force was created by the board of supervisors on june 12th, 2012. It was charged with making recommendations to the board regarding how the city could best address wage theft in San Francisco. We met monthly from october 2012 to september 2013 and our finding and recommendations were presented in a written final report that was submitted to the board. Id like to introduce the members of the task force. In addition to charlotte, who at the time was an attorney at the Legal Aid Society Employment Law center and is now selfemployed, and myself, and im the director of the office of labor standards and enforcement. An excellent job and i would like to say publicly that since your involvement with this you have really elevated this event and i remember years ago that we first had the room at the hotel in japan town and it was a oneday event and where it is at now and you have really raised the bar on this and i dont know how we can top it. And i thought that flavors was excellent and i like, you know our committee decided to, you know, charge with flavors and it worked. And i mean, and so we kept out mostly kept out, but you made it more interesting and more of of a networking event and i noticed this year, they were kicking us out at 8 00. And in the years past it was empty by 8 00. And so i thought that was a great sign. Yeah. And did it and got it done and really prevented, this entity from being able to sell their property without baring the conditions of selling their property would then have to mean that the back wages would be collected through the sale of the property.
