In my experience home insurance will only cover up to £2k in a garage. And they will have nothing to do with things they dont understand, ie, any kind of machine tool. If they cant tick a box on a screen they cant cope. I have a mate who swore blind that he was covered by the household insurance as organised by the wife; turns out he wasnt, didnt have any cover at all.
