The vandalism happened in an apparent theft attempt at Anderson Bonner Park, located off Park Central Drive near LBJ Freeway in North Dallas.

He was born on a plantation in Alabama in the 1830s. He later became one of the largest landowners in North Dallas.

Hamilton Park High School won a Class A state championship in 1961, in the all-Black Prairie View Interscholastic League.
