Big Thicket National Preserve in Texas has three planting events this winter that you can help make a success. Volunteers can join park staff and partners to plant native grasses in December, January, and February in the Big Sandy Creek Unit.

Big Thicket National Preserve in Texas is one of the National Park System units in the path of the annular solar eclipse next month and park staff are offering solar-filtered telescopes and eclipse glasses for safe viewing, ranger programs, and a sneak peek at the preserve's 50th anniversary celebrations in 2024.

Work is underway in Big Thicket National Preserve in Texas to plug two orphaned oil wells, work that was made possible with $550,000 from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

The Big Thicket National Preserve will start issuing this season’s free hunting permits on Thursday, September 1, 2022.
