Dozens gathered at Loveland Burial Park on Monday morning for a solemn tribute to men and women who gave their lives while serving in the U.S. armed forces.

This weekend, veterans groups across Northern Colorado will gather for Memorial Day ceremonies and events to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Roger Smith, who turned 100 in July, was awarded the French Legion of Honor on Thursday for his actions during Word War II.

In a solemn ceremony at oote Lagoon, members of American Legion Post 2000 and Loveland first responders paid tribute to the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
