Cowardly killer Jonathan Creswell tried to take his own life a few weeks after he was released on bail for the murder of Katie Simpson three years ago.

Jonathan Creswell, 36, had been charged with the rape and murder of Katie Simpson and was two days into his trial when he was discovered to have passed away at his Londonderry home.

Jonathan Creswell, who was on trial, was found dead at his home on Wednesday morning, court hears.

Jonathan Creswell had denied the rape and murder of the 21-year-old.
