Sue (Severns) DuSablon, 79, of Seymour, IN, and formerly of Carmi, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour, IN. She was born in Evansville, IN on December 22, 1943, the daughter of Frank and Thelma (Bowers) Severns. Sue married Arthur B. "Art" DuSablon, on December 15, 1990. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Seymour and had previously been a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Carmi. Sue helped Art with operating Eastside Package in Carmi along with serving as a Carmi City Councilwoman and the Police Commissioner. Sue was the life of the party wherever she went, and she made a celebration out of every holiday, especially Christmas, her favorite. One of her greatest characteristics was that she never knew a stranger and could spark a conversation up with anyone. Jane Absher, 98, of Carmi, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, at her residence. She was born in White County, Illinois on January 27, 1924, the daughter of Charles H. and Clora (Newcomb) Bates. Jane married Henry Absher on September 7, 1940, and he preceded her in death on June 21, 2001. The couple had one son, Ron Absher, and he preceded her in death on June 15, 2019. Jane was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carmi, and held a seat on the Deaconess Foundation Board for over 30 years. Early in her adult life, Jane worked diligently alongside Henry in growing their auto sales and oil businesses. They achieved great success and passed their work ethic along to their son, Ron. In 2019, the Absher Charitable Foundation was established to benefit the residents of White County by improving education and healthcare. Gary Michael Lee, 79, of San Diego, CA, passed away December 5, 2021 after a long illness. He was a beloved son who was preceded in death by his parents, Glenard and Ellen Lee. He is survived by his wife, Karen Lee, of San Diego, CA. A Service will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 10:30 am in the chapel at White County Memorial Garden in Carmi. Gary will be laid to rest next to his parents. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Gary's memory to Pets At RiskĀ and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of local arrangements.
Bill Edwin Davis, 74, of League City, Texas passed away on August 6, 2021 in his home surrounded by his immediate family. Bill was born July 18, 1947 to Alva C. and Marjorie Wilson Davis. His stately, lean, 6'5" body and a face framed with glasses and a full beard coalesced into a valid image of strength and gravitas. He was by any standard an imposing, much loved gentleman, lawyer, husband and friend. Bill spent his early childhood in Fairfield, Illinois and attended Fairfield Community High School. During this time, Bill developed his natural athleticism and his love of cars, music, hunting, fishing, golfing, and basketball. Bill earned a bachelor's degree at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, enjoying the small college experience and the brotherhood of Sigma Chi social fraternity, and the time spent at the family cabins on Kentucky Lake/Lake Barkley.
